Exports of goods and services reached 85 billion euros from January to August
From January to August 2023, Portuguese exports of goods and services increased by 7 per cent compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 85,064 million euros, according to the Bank of Portugal data. These results led to a trade surplus of 3,222 million euros, an increase in the balance of 5,762 million euros.
Spain stands out as the leading export destination with a 19.8 per cent share of the total, followed by France (12.8 per cent) and Germany (11 per cent). The United Kingdom, with a 9.2 per cent share, was the main customer outside the European Union and fourth overall, followed by the United States of America (7.1 per cent).
Exports to France saw the biggest growth, of 8.4 per cent, equivalent to 842 million euros, followed by Germany, with an increase of 801 million euros, and the United Kingdom, with 768 million euros.
