The purchasing power of Romanians, compared to that of Portuguese and Spaniards
Individual consumption, expressed by purchasing power (PPS), varied last year in Europe between 63% and 146% of the EU average in the 27 Member States, with Romania standing at 82% of the EU average, above Greece (76% ) and very close to Portugal (83%), Poland (84%), Spain and the Czech Republic (85%), according to Eurostat data.
Compared to the Gross Domestic Product per capita, Romania surpassed in 2021 Estonia, Greece, Croatia, Latvia, Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria.
